Learn how to use a sewing machine in the making of a custom book bag! Machines and materials are provided. Ages 16+. Beginner level.
The Creative Community Hive is a pop-up community crafting platform that provides a safe, non-judgmental space for people with or without any prior crafting experience. Aligned with OPL's Creation Zone values, the Hive aims to connect community, encourage the sharing and learning of skills, and explore creative expression.
During this in-person introductory program, a Creative Community Hive volunteer will demonstrate how to use a sewing machine to make a simple upcycled book bag. Participants will learn basic machine operation, straight stitching and turned corners.
Each participant will be provided a sewing machine and materials, courtesy of Creative Community Hive. All participants must provide their own mandatory safety eyewear.
