Help us start the conversation about Mental Health!
Join Maneet from Soch Mental Health and representatives from the Oakville Public Library for an introductory Mental Health Session.
Maneet Chahal-Gill (RN, BScN, MSc) is a passionate community change-makers with over 8 years of mental health nursing experience. Along with working in the field of mental health, Maneet finished her Masters of Nursing in 2018 which looked at the South Asian Punjabi community's experience of accessing mental health services for depression in the Region of Peel. Maneet co-founded SOCH Mental Health with her best friend, Jasmeet Chagger in April of 2015. Soch Mental Health is a South Asian mental health initiative aimed at providing culturally and linguistically appropriate mental health promotion for the South Asian community.
In this interactive and engaging session, panelists will discuss common questions regarding mental health including how to start the conversation about Mental Health, how to recognize that you are struggling with your mental health and how to build resiliency when facing challenges.
The panelists will also discuss the different mental health resources and organizations available from the Oakville Public Library and Halton Community Services Database
There will be an opportunity for participants to ask questions and engage in the conversation.
This program is a part of OPL’s Community Conversations Series – OPL’s commitment to creating a community that celebrates diversity, belonging, addressing difficult conversations, and helping build connections.
